Rehaunted: find your next phone action

Rehaunted came out on Steam on 2026-09-14, and six numbered patches followed within four days. A Rehaunted guide or video from launch day can show a haunting, a tutorial or a crib scene that no longer plays the same way, so each sticking point below comes with the patch that touched it.

The first haunting

The Haunting achievement, "Survive your first ever haunting", was held by 46.2% of Rehaunted players on Steam on 2026-09-20, fewer than half.

In the Steam discussions, one player locked themselves in, used the magnifier, the UV light and the camera flash, and was still caught every time. A reply says the camera stuns her for about two seconds; another says a photo only works after you spot her through the magnifier. A fourth player was killed six times in 30 minutes. We have not tested any of this.

Four Rehaunted updates changed hauntings. UPDATE 01 stopped enemies spawning in small, enclosed rooms, let you run through the entity after blinding it with a photo and kept the tutorial up longer. UPDATE 02 shortened encounters, UPDATE 03 adjusted their pacing, and UPDATE 05 pauses the game during the first haunting tutorial.

Stuck in the bathroom, or in the laundry room

UPDATE 04, on 2026-09-15, fixed a major Rehaunted blocker in the upstairs bathroom event: some players were permanently stuck in the laundry room and had to restart.

A later report is different. About 15 hours before our 2026-09-20 check, days after UPDATE 04, a player wrote that right after the hair clue in the sink a haunting started, the room went dark, the flashlight went out and the door would not open. If you are stuck in the bathroom in the dark, check that Steam has installed the latest Rehaunted update; after that, no patch note covers it.

The crib clue and the evidence board

On launch day, one player was a clue short after finding something in every room except the kids' room: the crib said it could be used, but clicking did nothing, even after restarts. UPDATE 03 made the crib sequence clearer and fixed a clipping problem in it, without saying this report is fixed. On 2026-09-18, after UPDATE 06, another player could not pick yes or no on the evidence board; no post mentions that one.

Crashing when the entity catches you

Two Steam threads report the game crashing when she catches the player. One Rehaunted player on Steam Deck says the -dx11 launch option stopped it; another says the game would not open with it. No official post mentions the crash. Both reports, and how to undo the launch option, are on the known issues page.

Garbled Japanese notes

On 2026-09-18 a player reported garbled Japanese text in the in-game notepad. The Rehaunted store page lists Japanese among 11 languages, with full audio only in English, and UPDATE 06 says missing translations are being updated without mentioning garbled text.

Rehaunted is a first-person psychological detective horror game by Cauchemar, who develop and publish it. As detective Connor Raines you arrive at what looks like a simple case, a young woman found dead in her home, with a UV flashlight, a camera, a magnifier, a walkie-talkie, an evidence board and another detective on the radio.

The store says Rehaunted never directly tells you the answers. In UPDATE 03, Cauchemar wrote that some moments players took for bugs were really the game not guiding them clearly enough, and reworked scripted events to point you at what you could miss. One player had written that they kept missing moments the developer wanted them to see.

How long is Rehaunted? The store and the pre-launch post both say 2 to 3 hours, and among the 100 most recent Steam reviews on 2026-09-20 the median reviewer had played 2 hours 18 minutes. It is Windows only, with a minimum of 64-bit Windows 11, 16 GB of RAM, a GTX 1070 Ti with 6 GB of video memory and DirectX 11.

Six numbered Rehaunted updates, signed Loris / Cauchemar, went up between 2026-09-14 and 2026-09-17: two on launch day, two on the 15th, one on the 16th and UPDATE 06 on the 17th. Our re-read of the official feed on 2026-09-23 at 14:29 UTC found nothing newer.
